RHV Angel Investors

Robin Hood Ventures is a group of angels: investors who provide financing to early-stage companies in exchange for an equity share of the business. We invest to obtain a favorable return on our money, to participate in the entrepreneurial process, and to catalyze economic growth—in the Philadelphia area, the mid-Atlantic region, and beyond.

Discover great early-stage companies

Get great deal flow. Through our network, we see thousands of companies and review hundreds of formal applications for funding every year.

Learn some pretty cool stuff

Hear pitches from new companies and learn about cutting-edge technologies. Examples from our portfolio include AI medical diagnosis, hyper-precise drone control, continuous identity verification for remote work, and biopolymer foam to seal battlefield wounds. Learn from other members and professional sponsors about investment industry trends; tax and legal issues; and lessons learned from exited companies.

We commonly make follow-on investments in our companies. While valuations are typically higher, these companies have performed against projected milestones and show traction with investors, strategics and customers. These are pre-vetted deals where some of our members have come to know the management and understand the market and product.

Collaborate with experts to identify the most promising investment options.

Work with members of varying backgrounds including entrepreneurs, subject matter experts, accomplished executives and professionals, and prominent investors. Serve on a screening committee to evaluate applicants and recommend the most promising companies. Contribute your business and technical expertise by conducting due diligence to delve into the business opportunity.

We make it easy to build your portfolio

Decide for yourself what companies to back, and how much to invest.  RHV pools its investments into a limited partnership for each company.  Being part of Robin Hood results in favorable terms and simplified paperwork.  Track your RHV investments online and have K-1 tax forms prepared on your behalf.

As a member-led organization, members can participate in screening and due diligence, as well as sourcing opportunities. It’s a great way to get involved in the community – members mentor entrepreneurs, serve on advisory boards, participate in accelerators, venture forums, competitions, etc. Members also serve as directors on boards of portfolio companies in which we invest, on a rotating basis.

We have rules, but not a lot

  • Play an active role throughout the life cycle of an investment. This includes sponsoring, screening, and performing due diligence on potential investments.
  • Support our portfolio companies with introductions and advice, mentoring entrepreneurs, or serving on investee company boards.
  • Actively participate in our monthly meetings.
  • Invest actively and build a portfolio that meets your priorities and investment goals (generally 8-10 RHV companies over 5 years).
  • Follow the RHV Code of Conduct
  • Invest Your Own Money

Members must be accredited investors under SEC Regulation D, Invest on their own behalf and have operational and/or entrepreneurial experience that adds value to the group. If you are interested in joining, complete this brief information form, and we will get right back to you.
